Lynsey MacKenzie lives and works in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2019 with a first class BA (Hons) in Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking.
Her first publication with Glasgow Print Studio, Fizz reflects MacKenzie's ongoing inquiry into memory, time, and place through an intuitive process of mark-making, layering, and erasure. As with her painting practice, the creation of this edition was a journey of experimentation and discovery:
"As with my painting practice, the approach of making this edition was one of continual enquiry, trial and error. In my work I explore place, time, and memory, through shifting planes of colour and gesture. I worked intuitively on the print, allowing it to unfold, and hope that it continues to unfold upon viewing. Thank you to Scott Campbell for helping me to realise the work."
Recent solo exhibitions include Beyond the Surface, Tatha Gallery, Newport on Tay (2023), Chronochromia, The Briggait, Glasgow (2022), and HERE AND NOW, SaltSpace Gallery, Glasgow (2020). Selected group exhibitions include 'I won't stay in a world without love', BEEP Painting Biennial, Swansea (2024) & Aberystwyth (2025), 'Frontiers: Painting in Scotland Now', Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh (2024), 'Platform', Edinburgh Art Festival, French Institute, Edinburgh (2022), and 'New Contemporaries', Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh (2020).
