40/40 is a suite of prints created in 2013 celebrating Glasgow Print Studio's 40 years in existence. 40 artists associated with Glasgow Print Studio were invited to make editions of 40 prints in whatever print medium they chose.
Art and writing go hand in hand with Gray. This screenprint is sixth in a series of prints illustrating his poem book of 1989, Old Negatives, and given that title since the verses describe love by its absences and reverses. He has been connected for nearly forty years with the Print Studio. The Print Studio Press published his first book, The Comedy of the White Dog in 1979. When his first novel was published in 1981 by Canongate the Studio made a suite of six lithographs from his illustrations to Lanark. In 2007 the Studio made its first lithograph of an Old Negatives poem. Woundscape is the sixth.
