40/40 is a suite of prints created in 2013 celebrating Glasgow Print Studio's 40 years in existence. 40 artists associated with Glasgow Print Studio were invited to make editions of 40 prints in whatever print medium they chose.
Using screenprinting as a central part of her art practice, Ciara Phillips creates installations that combine prints on paper, fabric and gallery walls with wall painting and sculptural components. Her own photographic images are exhibited alongside geometric and gestural elements to create a body of work that refers to historical and contemporary printed matter and that uses the process of printing as a catalyst for decision making.
For 40/40 Phillips has made a varied edition in three colours. Depicting an outstretched arm in a tassled tracksuit jacket that Ciara also made, Things put together 'signals' without offering a prescribed message.
Ciara has been a member of Glasgow Print Studio for the last nine years. In 2005 she produced a publication with GPS in collaboration with Transmission Gallery, and in 2010 she exhibited large-scale screenprints and printed clothing in a solo show titled Every Woman a Signal Tower. In 2011 she exhibited at GPS with Poster Club as part the Showcase series.Ciara began working at the Print Studio in ?? She had a solo exhibition in the Gallery in 2010 and exhibited as part of the Poster Club show the following year.
