"Drawn from sketches made at Moaness in ’20… staying in Stromness. I first visited the Orkney Isles in 1975 on the St Ola and collected visual information on Scapa Flow and Isle of Eday, Red Head on Eday being a recurring subject. Revisiting Hoy is on the agenda. All my travelling is on foot or by public transport. Between islands ferry times are important. The road to Lyness passes over the high ground in the print affording distance viewing across Scapa Flow. I have revisited the Orkney Isles on several occasions during recent years."
