"The area known as Holburn Head is accessible from Scrabster. The sea beyond is the Pentland Firth and a good track will take you to Spear Head. Visibility can be very clear to the hills in Caithness inland and across to Hoy. The sketching was done above Spear Head and here I took some photographs on my phone of the minute patterns and colours in the strata of these weathered sentinels. The track continues on towards Brims and the Caithness coast with Cape Wrath in the distance."
