This print was created in conjunction with the Glasgow Print Studio 50th Anniversary Here & Now Legacy Project. "'The Bone Clocks of Ghostwritten' is an abstract experiment that I developed from a print I made in 2019, based on the novel 'The Idiot' by Dostoevsky. It features a figure holding a Celestial globe, based on a stain glass depiction of the muse of Astronomy 'Urania' I saw at Mount Stewart, on the Isle of Bute. I drew many variations of the Celestial globe for the print; some of the shapes went on to become small abstract paintings I made during the first lockdown, which I later enlarged and screenprinted. I continued experimenting with the image and printed with silver on top of red and twisted it a 180 degrees, and it created something similar to the final print, which I then went on refining. The process was driven by play and experiments."

"The title 'The Bone Clocks of Ghostwritten' is a reference to two novels I have enjoyed by David Mitchell, the author not the comedian."

Alan Campbell was born in 1987 in the central belt of Scotland, raised in Airdrie. He studied Politics and Economics at Glasgow Caledonian University graduating in 2010. His work is concerned with literature, storytelling and word play. He joined Glasgow Print Studio as a member in 2011, and mainly works with screenprinting.
