This print was created in conjunction with the Glasgow Print Studio 50th Anniversary Here & Now Legacy Project. Muir has created prints of many landmark buildings in Glasgow over the years, including a screenprint and woodcut of Glasgow School of Art and a linocut of Glasgow University. When she heard that the Glasgow Print Studio 50th Anniversary exhibition was to take place at Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery, she decided to make her Here & Now print edition illustrate this important local building.
Liz Muir was born in Glasgow and graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 1996 with a degree in Art and Design. She taught art in Falkirk College and took workshops with Art in Hospital for several years.
Muir has been a Glasgow Print Studio member for more than ten years, and she has had two solo exhibitions in the gallery. She continues to make etchings, linocuts and screenprints in the workshop. Her work is inspired by the built environment, the human figure and portraiture. She has exhibited in various Scottish venues, one of which was the Royal Scottish Academy.
