I came across a picture of a black fox and thought well aren’t you beautiful, hence the title 'Hey Beautiful’. The world today can be a strange and ugly place, with war and living with a pandemic, you forget to see the beauty around us and this is what inspired this print. I chose to do a screenprint as I wanted to show the drawing of the fox and keep it simple."
Joy Bain was born in Falkirk in 1966. She studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art from 1985 to 1989. She learned printmaking from the fabulous Bob Fraser, who’s mantra was “In printmaking, when you think you have cleaned up enough, clean up a little bit more.” She has been the woodcut tutor at Glasgow Print Studio since 2012.
