Tradition and modernity meet in this image, created using the most recently developed (and still evolving) printmaking methods; digital print and screenprint. The piece is influenced by records of our history past and is part of a body of work inspired by the cartography, history and geology of Scotland. It draws on sources including textbooks on natural history, early printed maps, cultural icons and myths.
Murray started work at the Print Studio in 1986 as lithography technician and is currently Digital Master Printer. He had five solo exhibitions in the Gallery between 1988 and 2005 plus a joint exhibition in 2012.
