This print was created in conjunction with the Glasgow Print Studio 50th Anniversary Here & Now Legacy Project. "I was the youngest of three children, sent to bed before my sister and brother. Being 5 years old, feeling isolated and scared, my mind would wander into my imagined place. An abiding memory was questioning ‘What am I?’ It was an empty, panicky place. I never discussed these night-time mind explorations. Visiting memories and intertwining observations of life through drawing, painting and printing helps me to make sense of experience."

Alice McMurrough was born in 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland. She studied Fine Art with subsidiary studies in Textile Design at Glasgow School of Art graduating in 1977. She was recevied her post-graduate degree in 1978. In 1979 she began teaching Art and Design, and was a Marker and Moderator for the Scottish Qualifications Authority and delivered Arts and Heritage provision as a Cultural Coordinator in East Dunbartonshire Schools. In 2007 she left the teaching profession to concentrate on her own artwork. She has been the recipient of a number of awards including 1978 D. Sommerville Award, Glasgow School of Art, 2002 D. Muirhead Purchase Prize, Royal Scottish Academy, 2007 East Dunbartonshire Council Purchase Prize, 2010 Glasgow Art Club Fellowship Award, 2011 James Torrance Award, Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, 2016 Shortlisted: W Gordon Smith Award, Edinburgh. 2022 Aberdeen Art Society, 2nd Prize. 2013 elected Diplomate of Paisley Art Institute, Diplomate of the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts and Diplomate of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour.

In 2016 she attended an etching workshop run by Stuart Duffin and became a member of Glasgow Print Studio. Since then she has attended a monotype workshop run by Al Gow in 2021. She is currently working with collagraph printing and combining different printing processes. She enjoys the atmosphere of GPS: “the energy of working alongside other artists contrasts with my painting practice when I work alone.”
