Rob Churm

Rob Churm was born in Epping Forest, England in 1979. He graduated with a BA (Hons), Fine Art, from Glasgow School of Art in 2001. He mainly makes works on paper using black ink, Biro and Tipp-Ex, his graphic marks revealing a monochromatic and often surreal, unknown world.

He has initiated and collaborated on a number of projects such as The Drapeau Noir (2010) and Prawn’s Pee (2012) for the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art. He regularly produces artist zines to accompany his exhibitions. Churm is also known for his work as a musician and performer, and has published recordings of his bands Park Attack and Gummy Stumps.

In 2008 he published and exhibited a print edition at Glasgow Print Studio for the exhibition titled “To bring forth and give”, a print project by artists represented by Sorcha Dallas Gallery.

Churm has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad, with a solo show at Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA), Glasgow; Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA), Dundee; BQ Gallery, Berlin; Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow; Hour Projects, Copenhagen; Sorcha Dallas, Glasgow. His work was also included in the landmark exhibition, Generation, 25 Years of Contemporary Art in Scotland (2014).
