Ashley Cook

Ashley Cook lives and works in Glasgow. She graduated from Glasgow School of Art in Postgraduate Printmaking in 1986. She was the screenprinting technician at GSA after graduating, then lecturer in Printmaking until 1995.

Cook creates narrative-driven, photomontage works, focussed on the human form, with the titles having a central position. She works with a mixture of found images and her own autographic and photographic images. Her eclectic library of personal and archetypal iconography is reused, redeveloped and manipulated continuously.

Cook has worked with Glasgow Print Studio since 1991 and has had several solo exhibitions in the gallery during that time. She has also taught evening classes, worked in the gallery and made a number of screenprint publications. Her work is included in a number of prestigious collections nationally and internationally, including the Scottish Arts Council, British Broadcasting Corporation, Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery, Vaasa Museum and Galeria Otra Vez.
