Claire Forsyth was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She trained at Glasgow School of Art, receiving First Class honours in Fine Art Printmaking. She worked for several years at London Print Studio, before becoming the Workshop Manager at Glasgow Print Studio in 2008. She was also a part time lecturer in Printmaking at City of Glasgow College and Visiting Lecturer for Master of Letters Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art.
Forsyth works in photography, drawing and printmaking to explore place, process, narrative and psychogeography. Her work ranges from screenprinted posters fly-posted in site specific public areas to hyper-fine multi-layer silkscreen prints, produced using very finely graded photo silkscreen exposures, printed in layers on top of each other. This process gives her work a distinctive and soft filmic look. Her work has been shown in Berlin, New York, London, Milan and California.
