Lin Chau: Beyond

7 - 29 August 2026
Overview

Beyond, an exhibition of new works by multidisciplinary artist Lin Chau brings together a series of works arising from recent residencies and travels in Scotland and Europe. The exhibition explores landscape as both a physical and emotional terrain, shaped by journeys, memory, and perception.

Working from direct observation, Chau draws upon changing skies, tidal rhythms, and shifting light across land and water. Through monoprint and chine-collé, these fleeting encounters are translated into layered compositions that move between representation and abstraction, inviting reflection on our place within landscapes in continual transition.

Images are first developed on delicate Xuan paper before being mounted onto a more substantial support. The dialogue between fragile and resilient materials reflects the artists ongoing exploration of layering, transformation, and the interplay between intention and chance.

Lin Chau studied Fine Art at the Glasgow School of Art, where she completed both a BA (Hons) and a Master's degree. Her work has been exhibited across the UK and beyond. Recent invited exhibitions include Chaos and Control at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh; Between Islands, a touring exhibition at Glasgow Print Studio and Graphic Studio, Dublin, and To the Sea, From the Land at Tatha Gallery, Dundee. Her work is held in public and private collections.
